Happy New Year!
Sooo… tomorrow is 2020. At the start of a new year people usually try to do something new or create a goal. One of my new things for 2020 is creating this newsletter. I will try to spell all my words correctly and not be too boring. I just really want to keep in touch and tell you about my adventures in digital marketing and provide a service to people I know.
I have always been on the journey of self-employment and have spent countless hours on learning how to do just that. What I am discovering is that many other people also want to travel down the road of self-employment and have great ideas but get lost in the direction of digital marketing. Let’s face it, digital marketing is a little techy and many people don’t always understand what it is about.
I have been holding networking events, speaker presentations and digital marketing education classes for over 5 years and have met a lot of people interested in digital marketing. What I’d like to give you in each newsletter is a quick update on what I’m up to, a digital marketing tip, and a referral from my growing network.
What I Am Up To
Many people know me by my business Small Business Milwaukee, however I’m not sure that many people know about what that is all about.
Small Business Milwaukee was started about 5 years ago to help bring small businesses in the Milwaukee area together to learn more about how to use digital marketing to expand their business. It has now grown into an agency of website design, social media marketing, seo and content creation. In fact, we now write feature articles for small businesses and we are just about ready to launch a membership! We have small business networking events (see bottom of e-mail) every month where you can meet other small business owners and learn tips and tricks to succeed faster. If you want to learn more you can go to www.smallbizmke.com. – sign up for the Small Business Milwaukee Newsletter while you are there. If you or anyone you know could use some digital marketing, send them my way!
Digital Marketing Tip
Always Start With a Website
If you are thinking about self- employment or any other kind of small business that requires you to get noticed, the website is usually the # 1 digital product you will want to start with. It is pretty quick and easy to start with a facebook page or any other social media account as it is free and easy for you to set up, but if you are building a business for the long haul, you will need a website. To get started, research other websites and see what you like. Document all your ideas and start writing your content. This will give you a great head start on your website design journey.
My Networking Referral
My Networking referral this month is Kim Hand. Kim is the writer for Small Business Milwaukee and a very good friend of mine. I have known Kim for about 5 years and just love her writing style! You can see more about Kim at her website.
What I’m looking for
In my life and business I’m always looking for something or someone to fix a problem or enhance my life/business. I’m looking for more people to attend the networking events I hold monthly. Not only will it help me meet more people, but it also helps you meet more people! People are looking for the services you offer and a great way to get out there and tell people about what you do is networking events. Hope you can try to make it to one of the January events!
